Henry Waxman: The Witch Hunter of Capitol Hill
By Michelle Malkin • March 31, 2010 09:50 AM
Has there ever been a time when 18-term liberal Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman’s nostrils weren’t flaring indignantly at corporate executives and entrepreneurs? The man wields his gavel over the free market like a Damoclean sword. He throws the weight of his congressional chairmanship around like a sumo wrestler walking across hot stones. For more than 35 years, Waxman has made it his taxpayer-funded business to use the power of government to undermine private business.... http://michellemalkin.com/2010/03/31/henry-waxman-the-witch-hunter-of-capitol-hill/

Morning Bell: $1 Billion AT&T Headache is Just Obamacare’s First Side Effect
Posted March 30th, 2010
In the closing days of the Congressional health care debate, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told the National Association of Counties: “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” Today marks the end of just the first week of life under Obamacare and Speaker Pelosi has been proven right: we are just now finding out what is in it. This past Friday, AT&T, the biggest U.S. telephone company, announced that it would take a $1 billion charge against earnings thanks to tax changes buried in the 2,300+ page bill. $1 billion. That is a full third of AT&T’s $3 billion earnings for the fourth quarter of 2009...

Supreme Court May Weigh Coverage Mandate
Monday, 29 Mar 2010 07:29 AM
By: Kara Rowland
The same Supreme Court justices whom President Obama blasted during his State of the Union address this year may ultimately decide the fate of his crowning achievement as more than a dozen states have called on the courts to strike down the health insurance mandate of Democrats' health care overhaul - a move that would threaten the entire law.
Two major constitutional challenges have been levied against the new law, one by the state of Virginia, which enacted a law exempting its citizens from the federal health insurance mandate, and another by Florida and 12 other states. Legal scholars are divided on the merits of the cases, and even Congress - through its research service and its budget scorekeeper - has said it's an open question whether the provision could pass constitutional muster.... http://newsmax.com/Newsfront/Supreme-Court-Coverage-Mandate/2010/03/29/id/354067?s=al&promo_code=9A84-1
First and foremost, Tea Party Patriots has a zero tolerance policy against violence or bigotry from Democrats, Republicans or Independents, and expects this standard to be applied equally to all. The values of Tea Party Patriots are clearly opposed to those who choose this path. By the same token, public anger at Congress is legitimate and warranted. Congress is not listening to the American people and their complaints. Sadly today, the majority in Congress continue to ignore and downplay the clearly expressed feelings of the majority of the American people. According to a CBS poll on March 24th (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20001117-503544.html), a full 62% of the American public wants this bill challenged. It is time for Congress to listen to the American people and act accordingly. Meanwhile, Tea Party Patriots will continue to provide constructive means for the American people to make their voices heard.

Health-Care Cost Lies Make Us Sing the Blues: Amity Shlaes
March 23 (Bloomberg) -- “So lie to me, lie to me, I’d rather have it that way.”
Every historic moment has its soundtrack, and passing U.S. health-care legislation is no exception. The song for this bill is “Lie to Me,” recorded by blues singer Brook Benton in 1962.
Benton’s song is a plea to the woman who cheated on him to lie to him about it and instead say everything’s fine. The tune came to mind while watching some voters applaud Democratic leaders as they promise that the new law will reduce budget deficits by $1 trillion.
“Just lie, lie, lie.”... http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&sid=aEhggnpXWFT4

House may try to pass Senate health-care bill without voting on it
By Lori Montgomery and Paul Kane

Tuesday, March 16, 2010; A01
After laying the groundwork for a decisive vote this week on the Senate's health-care bill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested Monday that she might attempt to pass the measure without having members vote on it.
Instead, Pelosi (D-Calif.) would rely on a procedural sleight of hand: The House would vote on a more popular package of fixes to the Senate bill; under the House rule for that vote, passage would signify that lawmakers "deem" the health-care bill to be passed... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/15/AR2010031503742_pf.html
