Cap And Trade: A Homeowner's Nightmare!

This was written by
Frank M. Carrio, CMI and passed on to me. Chilling stuff! Read the whole story at the link given.

Cap and Trade: A License Required for your Home

We encourage you to read the provisions of the Cap and Trade Bill that has passed the House of Representatives and being considered by the Senate. We are ready to join the next march on Washington!
This Congress and whoever on their staffs that write this junk are truly out to destroy the middle class of the USA....

A License Required for your house

Thinking about selling your house - A look at H.R. 2454 (Cap and trade bill) This is unbelievable!

Only the beginning from this administration! Home owners take note & tell your friends and relatives who are home owners!

Beginning 1 year after enactment of the Cap and Trade Act, you won't be able to sell your home unless you retrofit it to comply with the energy and water efficiency standards of this Act. H.R. 2454, the "Cap & Trade" bill passed by the House of Representatives, if also passed by the Senate, will be the largest tax increase any of us has ever experienced.

The Congressional Budget Office (supposedly non-partisan) estimates that in just a few years the average cost to every family of four will be $6,800 per year.

Climategate, Read it For Yourself!

On 20 November 2009, emails and other documents, apparently originating from with the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia.

If real, these emails contain some quite surprising and even disappointing insights into what has been happening within the climate change scientific establishment. Worryingly this same group of scientists are very influential in terms of economic and social policy formation around the subject of climate change.

As these emails are already in the public domain, I think it is important that people are able to look through them and judge for themselves.

Senator Mark Begich's reasons for voting for the Senate Healthcare Act

I got this reponse from Senator Mark Begich today about an email I sent to his office last Friday asking him how he was planning to vote on Saturday, November 21. This was his response. I added the bold highlighting:

Thank you for contacting me regarding insurance and health care reforms. I appreciate your taking time to share your thoughts regarding plans in Congress to address the complex issues of insurance and health care costs. I believe health care should be accessible and affordable for all Americans. On November 21 I voted in favor of the motion to proceed to debate on the Senate health care reform bill, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590). This was not a final vote on health care reform. It was a procedural vote allowing the bill to be available for debate before the full Senate. Alaskans and all Americans deserve a full debate on this important issue. I look forward to the debate because the need for insurance and health care reform is great. Medical costs are out of control and now compose one-sixth of the national economy. More than 133,000 Alaskans are uninsured - nearly 20 percent of our states' population. The cost of their uncompensated care is passed on to those with insurance. This means Alaska families, on average, pay an additional $1,900 a year in premium costs due to this "hidden tax" and insurance premiums for individuals are $710 higher than they should be. In its current form, H.R. 3590 is estimated to provide health coverage for 31 million more Americans. This means more than 94 percent of all Americans will have health care coverage. Additionally, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act would provide Americans the security of:

o No discrimination for pre-existing conditions,
o No exorbitant out-of-pocket expenses, deductibles or co-pays,
o No cost-sharing for preventative care,
o No dropping of coverage for seriously ill,
o No gender discrimination,
o No lifetime caps on coverage,
o Children continue to be eligible for family coverage until age 26,
o Insurance companies can't refuse renewal because someone became sick.
Health care insurance reform is essential for small businesses. Many small businesses, providing more than half the jobs in Alaska, are dropping health insurance for their workers because they can't afford it, or they are continuing to provide insurance but cannot afford to hire new workers or invest in expansion. Under H.R.3950, employers with 50 or fewer workers would be exempt from employer responsibility provisions. Businesses with fewer than 25 employees wanting to cover their workers would receive sliding-scale affordability tax credits. An estimated 3.6 million businesses across the nation would qualify. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is fully paid for and will reduce the deficit and curb runaway health care costs. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the H.R. 3950 would cut the budget deficit by $127 billion over ten years. In the second decade of implementation, the bill would reduce the deficit by $650 billion. I do not believe the legislative process is moving too fast. The current health reform discussion has been underway in Washington since January, and before then health care has been a major topic in the United States for many years. As this process continues to move forward, I assure you I am following it closely and will read the final version of the bill in its entirety before voting. You may also read the bill. It is posted on my website, http://begich.senate.gov. Again, thank you for contacting me. I will continue to work with my Senate colleagues to make health care affordable, and will keep your comments in mind as I do so.

Sincerely, Mark Begich U.S. Senator

Healthcare motion passes in the Senate: 60-39

by
FOXNews.com

WASHINGTON -- Sweeping health care legislation has cleared its first hurdle in the full Senate on a party-line vote.
The 60-39 vote clears the way for a historic debate after Thanksgiving on the legislation. The measure is designed to extend coverage to an estimated 31 million Americans who lack it and crack down on insurance industry practices that deny benefits.
The White House released a statement saying, "The President is gratified that the Senate has acted to begin consideration of health insurance reform legislation. Tonight’s historic vote brings us one step closer to ending insurance company abuses, reining in spiraling health care costs, providing stability and security to those with health insurance, and extending quality health coverage to those who lack it. The President looks forward to a thorough and productive debate."
The rare Saturday session amounted to a first round in the fight to pass the bill in the full Senate, with the remaining Democratic holdouts announcing they would support at least the measure to open debate on the bill, avoiding an early knockout by Republicans.
Sens. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana waited until Saturday to say they would vote yes for a floor debate. Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska announced Friday his support for moving the bill forward.
All three cautioned that their votes to start debate should not be construed a support for the bill in its current form.
"It is a vote to move forward to continue the good and essential and important and imperative work that is under way," Landrieu said on the Senate floor. "I've decided that there's enough significant reforms and safeguards in this bill to move forward but more work needs to be done."
Lincoln said she still would support a filibuster if the so-called "public option," a government-run insurance plan, remains in the health care bill.
"I along with others expect to have legitimate opportunities to influence the health care reform legislation that is voted on by the Senate later this year or early next year," she said.
While the vote is only a procedural one, Republicans haven't backed down.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, said today that the controversial new guidelines for breast cancer – which say that women in their 40s shouldn’t undergo routine mammograms – could become a first step toward rationing under a government run health care system.

Sen. Reid’s Government-Run Health Plan Requires a Monthly Abortion Fee

I thought the House did away with government mandated abortion in our new healthcare bill?! I guess Harry knows best...Unbelievable!

Posted by GOP Leader Press Office on November 19th, 2009

Just like the original 2,032-page, government-run health care plan from Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) massive, 2,074-page bill would levy a new “abortion premium” fee on Americans in the government-run plan.

Beginning on line 7, p. 118, section 1303 under “Voluntary Choice of Coverage of Abortion Services” the Health and Human Services Secretary is given the authority to determine when abortion is allowed under the government-run health plan. Leader Reid’s plan also requires that at least one insurance plan offered in the Exchange covers abortions (line 13, p. 120).

What is even more alarming is that a monthly abortion premium will be charged of all enrollees in the government-run health plan. It’s right there beginning on line 11, page 122, section 1303, under “Actuarial Value of Optional Service Coverage.” The premium will be paid into a U.S. Treasury account – and these federal funds will be used to pay for the abortion services.

Section 1303(a)(2)(C) describes the process in which the Health Benefits Commissioner is to assess the monthly premiums that will be used to pay for elective abortions under the government-run health plan and for those who are given an affordability credit to purchase insurance coverage that includes abortion through the Exchange. The Commissioner must charge at a minimum $1 per enrollee per month.

A Doctor's Perspective

Thank you, Dr. Hieb for this fantastic article!

Immoral Medicine

by Dr. Lee Hieb

11/09/2009

Government pay medicine -- under any name you give it -- is immoral for patients/citizens, and for physicians. No citizen would consider it moral to put a gun to his neighbor’s head and demand that he pay for his mother’s medical care -- no matter how much she may need it. It is no more moral when people use the government as intermediary. For the physician, it is impossible to practice moral medicine in a government system, because ultimately at some level a physician will have to choose between doing the best for his patient or acquiescing to the requirements of the state.... http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=34311

The Problem With Socialism

By Connie Emmert

November 16, 2009
Monday PM

If you have been watching the news about the TEA parties, you have probably seen the sign that says, "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." We're beginning to realize the truth to this phrase as Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security careen into bankruptcy.

But, there is another problem with socialism. In order to get everyone to be so generous with their hard earned dollars you have to force them to comply. Nancy Pelosi's Healthcare plan that just passed by a razor thin margin in the House makes a criminal of anyone who evades buying the approved government insurance. Fines are up to $250,000 and jail time of up to 5 years.

Now let's stop and think about that for a moment. Does anyone really believe that it is justice to slap such a penalty on his neighbor for not purchasing the right kind of insurance for himself? And even more ironic is that the reason that we so desperately needed this reform, so they said, was because it was causing those who didn't have health insurance to go bankrupt after a hospitalization (in spite of payment plans and charity care witch is available). Why, then, is it no problem now to bankrupt him with penalties and jail time?

We have come to this crossroads in America because we have been told again and again that socialism is compassionate, and we have fallen for it because we are a very generous people. We know that we are blessed, and we want to give to those who have not. But, we need to be careful not to turn away from the freedoms that have made us wealthy and able to bless the world, and instead become slaves of a controlling, dictatorial government - unable to help ourselves, much less anyone else.

There is a very well done little video called "Overview of America" that explains the difference between capitalism and socialism as well as between a democracy and a republic.

Something More Than an Agreement to Have an Agreement

Hmmm. That sounds like something binding.

Obama: Rally the world for climate deal next month

By JENNIFER LOVEN and ARTHUR MAX, Associated Press Writers

Obama administration officials acknowledge that the Copenhagen talks are not expected to produce a final legal agreement, putting that off until next year. So the administration is hurriedly looking for ways to rescue a process that has gone far off track by building hopes that a significant, though interim and nonbinding, deal will be struck and keep international talks alive. Stimulus Fraud

Not only have 640,000 new jobs not been created from the stimulus — an absurd claim, given the economy's loss of nearly 4 million payroll positions this year — but it now seems that even the jobs themselves are fictional.... http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article.aspx?id=512766

WASHINGTON (AP) - In a victory for President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled House narrowly passed landmark health care legislation Saturday night to expand coverage to tens of millions who lack it and place tough new restrictions on the insurance industry. Republican opposition was nearly unanimous.

The 220-215 vote cleared the way for the Senate to begin debate on the issue that has come to overshadow all others in Congress.

A triumphant Speaker Nancy Pelosi likened the legislation to the passage of Social Security in 1935 and Medicare 30 years later.

"It provides coverage for 96 percent of Americans. It offers everyone, regardless of health or income, the peace of mind that comes from knowing they will have access to affordable health care when they need it," said Rep. John Dingell, the 83-year-old Michigan lawmaker who has introduced national health insurance in every Congress since succeeding his father in 1955.

In the run-up to a final vote, conservatives from the two political parties joined forces to impose tough new restrictions on abortion coverage in insurance policies to be sold to many individuals and small groups. They prevailed on a roll call of 240-194.

Ironically, that only solidified support for the legislation, clearing the way for conservative Democrats to vote for it.

The legislation would require most Americans to carry insurance and provide federal subsidies to those who otherwise could not afford it. Large companies would have to offer coverage to their employees. Both consumers and companies would be slapped with penalties if they defied the government's mandates.

Insurance industry practices such as denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions would be banned, and insurers would no longer be able to charge higher premiums on the basis of gender or medical history. In a further slap, the industry would lose its exemption from federal antitrust restrictions on price gouging, bid rigging and market allocation.

A cheer went up from the Democratic side of the House when the bill gained 218 votes, a majority. Moments later, Democrats counted down the final seconds of the voting period in........... http://apnews.myway.com/article/20091108/D9BR59EO0.html

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Don Young doesn't attend many big public events in Washington, so his presence was notable Thursday afternoon at a Republican rally that drew thousands of people who oppose the health care legislation scheduled for a vote this weekend in the House of Representatives.

"I've been a big supporter of tea parties and public interest in government," Young said of his attendance at the rally, staged by Republicans and organizations with ties to the conservative Tea Party movement. "I have quite a few Alaskans here that are interested in where we're going and which way we're headed."... http://www.adn.com/house/story/1001475.html
