Olympic Sized Payback
All the President's Olympic Cronies
When government officials play the Olympic lottery, taxpayers lose. That has been the disastrous experience of host cities around the world. (Forbes magazine even dubbed the post-Olympic financial burden the "Host City Curse.") So, why are President Obama and his White House entourage headed to Copenhagen, Denmark, this week to push a fiscally doomed Chicago 2016 bid? State to mom: Stop baby-sitting neighbors' kids
By JAMES PRICHARD, Associated Press Writer – Tue Sep 29, 7:23 pm ET
IRVING TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Each day before the school bus comes to pick up the neighborhood's children, Lisa Snyder did a favor for three of her fellow moms, welcoming their children into her home for about an hour before they left for school.
Regulators who oversee child care, however, don't see it as charity. Days after the start of the new school year, Snyder received a letter from the Michigan Department of Human Services warning her that if she continued, she'd be violating a law aimed at the operators of unlicensed day care centers.

Congress’s Secret Plan to Pass Obamacare
09/29/2009
President Obama and liberals in Congress seem intent on passing comprehensive health care reform, even though polls suggest it is unpopular with the American people. And despite the potential political risks to moderate Democrats, the President and left-wing leadership in Congress are determined to pass the measure using a rare parliamentary procedure.
The Senate plans to attach Obamacare to a House-passed non-healthcare bill. Ironically, nobody knows what that legislation looks like, because it has not yet been written. Yet many members plan to rubber-stamp Obamacare without reading or understanding the bill.... http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=33740

President Urges Media Bail Out
Its Barry Doody Time

Buffalo Bob, we’re told, kept Howdy Doody in tip-top shape. Paul Winchell touched up Knucklehead Smiff on a daily basis. And it is reported (by his lovely daughter Candace no less) that Edgar Bergen treated Charlie McCarthy like a member of the family.
So, it should come as no surprise that Barack Obama is urging Congress to bail out the nation’s “news” organizations as they fall further and further into disrepute and destitution.

Thinking of having a fall yard sale to clean out some of the clutter from your house? Be careful, or it could get you in trouble with the Feds, and cost you up to $15 million in fines. Its no joke: the Consumer Product Safety Commission has launched a new enforcement campaign, which it calls “Resale Round-up,” targeting the resale of potentially harmful children’s toys and other consumer products. Potential violators, the CPSC warns, include “thrift stores, consignment stores, charities, and individuals holding yard sales and flea markets.” Even e-bay sales are at risk.... http://blog.heritage.org/2009/09/25/feds-target-yard-sales/
Doctors Will Be Penalized
Key Senate health bill's deadly fine print

Vote on Taxes Amendment to the Constitution
Dear Concerned Taxpayer,
The "Vote On Taxes" Committee is committed to adding the "Vote On Taxes" amendment to the U.S. Constitution. History has demonstrated that requiring voter approval of new taxes and spending will ensure that future generations of Americans will enjoy significantly higher standards of living than if government continues to tax and spend at will.
The official forecast is for the U.S. to run out of money by 2050 leading to a multi-generational economic decline.
The process of amending our Constitution is difficult, time consuming and needs the broad support of the American people. Never in our history has an amendment been successfully proposed and ratified by state legislatures. But, the founding fathers had the foresight to include a way that the states, without the help of the U.S. Congress, could change the Constitution if there were no other way to preserve the American dream of freedom and expanding economic prosperity.
Are you ready to help add the "Vote On Taxes" amendment to our U.S. Constitution?
Please visit http://www.voteontaxes.com/ for more information.

Passing a Shell of A Bill: Congress’ Secret Plan to Ram Through Health Care Reform
Posted September 22nd, 2009 at 3.34pm
With the President and Congress’s plan to pass comprehensive health care reform reaching increasingly high levels of unpopularity, and reconciliation becoming an impediment, the leadership of the Senate is rumored to be preparing a new secret plan to railroad the bill through the Senate in record time by using a seldom used parliamentary procedure.
Their plan is to proceed to a House passed non-health care bill to provide a shell of legislation to give Obamacare a ride to the House then to the President’s desk. Sound confusing? We lay out the steps below, but essentially the Senate would pass health care reform as an amendment to a completely unrelated bill so the Senate and House could act quickly and without further debate. Even worse? Nobody really knows what that legislation looks like but they plan on voting for it anyway.... http://blog.heritage.org/2009/09/22/passing-a-shell-of-a-bill-how-congress-plans-to-ram-through-health-care-reform/

Contract from America
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 21, 2009
In an initiative that harkens to the core principles of the Declaration of Independence, the Tea Party Patriots and other grassroots activists have established a project which will enable the American people to establish legislative priorities for their representatives. This new project, called "Contract from America," offers the public the opportunity to make specific legislative suggestions in thirteen areas of public policy, ranging from health care to ethics reform, energy and environmental issues.
In true grassroots style, Ryan Hecker, from Houston, Texas, conceptualized and created the Contract from America, and brought it to the Tea Party Patriots. In discussing the project, he spoke of the need for more public involvement in the determination of America's public policies. "Over the past decades, the majority of ideas and policies have originated in the backrooms of lobbyists and legislators in Washington DC. New legislation has often originated from special interests. These ideas and policies have proven to be tired and ineffective. I know the American people have better ideas for our government. Contract from America is their opportunity."
Contractfromamerica.com http://www.contractfromamerica.com/ContractDefault.aspx was launched immediately prior to the Stand up for Liberty! rallies held in Texas and Ohio over the Labor Day Weekend, and was announced to the nation at the 9-12 March on Washington.
As ideas are offered online by grassroots visitors, individuals will be able to vote on ideas or suggest alternatives in each category. Editors selected from among tea party activists from around the country will choose the top three ideas in each policy area. A vote of the people will select the ideas to be presented to elected officials as the choices of the people.
Hecker noted further, "This website provides Americans with the opportunity to offer their innovative solutions to our nation's pressing problems and to vote and comment on the ideas of others. We believe that the result of this grassroots-generated marketplace of ideas will be a document that not only represents the will of the American people, but promotes unique ideas that will breathe new life and new trust into American government. We will have a Contract From America for which we are all responsible and in which we all feel a sense of ownership."

Physician Shortage May Become Critical
45% Of Doctors Would Consider Quitting If Congress Passes Health Care Overhaul

Two of every three practicing physicians oppose the medical overhaul plan under consideration in Washington, and hundreds of thousands would think about shutting down their practices or retiring early if it were adopted, a new IBD/TIPP Poll has found.
The poll contradicts the claims of not only the White House, but also doctors' own lobby — the powerful American Medical Association — both of which suggest the medical profession is behind the proposed overhaul.
It also calls into question whether an overhaul is even doable; 72% of the doctors polled disagree with the administration's claim that the government can cover 47 million more people with better-quality care at lower cost.

Murkowski Says Public Concerned about a ‘Tsunami of Government Intrusion’
Tuesday September 15 2009
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, said today that Americans are not only concerned about the Democrats’ health care proposals, but the “cumulative effect” of federal spending that is increasing the national debt by trillions of dollars.
“I think one of the things that we cannot lose sight of here in Congress is what our constituents have clearly not lost sight of, and that is the cumulative effect of what is happening here in Washington, D.C. – the ever-growing debt,” Murkowski told reporters at a Republican leadership news conference.
Murkowski, vice chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, said Alaskans expressed concerns to her at a series of town hall meetings in the state last month that the “government is into everything right now.”
“They’re (the government) running the credit cards. They’re manufacturing automobiles. They are setting pay compensation for executives. At what point do we pull government back?” Murkowski asked.
Murkowski said public concern extended from “rallies in places as far away as Fairbanks, Alaska” to the tens of thousands of people who gathered on the Washington Mall this past weekend to protest President Obama’s initiatives and government spending.
“When we’re talking about health care reform, we need to keep in mind that the Americans’ concern is not necessarily just this 800- or 1,000-page bill that we have in front of us, but what is coming at them in what they feel to be a tsunami of government intrusion,” Murkowski said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do.” http://murkowski.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=PressReleases&ContentRecord_id=3a4a85e1-b4b8-464f-bacd-5fc57deb115d
