American Association of Physicians and Surgeons Opposed to Obama-Care

I found this great site today for the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons. They are strongly opposed to Obama-care. There is a wealth of good information at this site. (By the way - did you know that only about 20% of physicians are part of the AMA. So, their endorsement of this Health Care legislation doesn't really reflect what most physicians are thinking.)

Too Late for Blueberry Sign Up

Ketchikan TEA Party Patriots will NOT be doing a booth at the Blueberry Festival on August 1st.  There were no spaces left and we are 11th on the waiting list.

The next event will be a tea party on Sept. 12 in solidarity with the Washington D.C. TEA party.  In the mean time we need a planning meeting.  If anyone has any ideas please let us know and please come to the next meeting on Monday, August 17th at 6:00 P.M. Jeremiah's at the Landing.

Keep writing your legislators in the mean time!  Just because they are putting off the health care bill until the Fall doesn't mean we can let up on the pressure.

Government health care is an oxymoron

On Wednesday last week the article “It’s Not An Option” in Investor’s Business Daily was startling.

“It didn't take long to run into an "uh-oh" moment when reading the House's "health care for all Americans" bill. Right there on Page 16 is a provision making individual private medical insurance illegal. When we first saw the paragraph Tuesday, just after the 1,018-page document was released, we thought we surely must be misreading it. So we sought help from the House Ways and Means Committee. It turns out we were right: The provision Govwould indeed outlaw individual private coverage.” The article explains that we would be allowed to keep our existing coverage, but we won’t be able to switch to another carrier if moving to another job. And because the government plan will be cheeper than most carriers, businesses will switch to the government plan anyway. By attrition we will all be moving to the government plan.

We were promised otherwise.

We were also promised that this would make health care more affordable.

What is ironic about this is that Medicare is going bankrupt. For years we have been anticipating the baby boomer crunch that would be overwhelming the system. How would we be able to pay for that influx on Medicare? So, the answer that we have come up with is increasing the number of people on government coverage!?! And indeed, the Congressional Budget Office warned last week of escalating costs. How will we pay for that when we haven’t figured out how to cover the cost of Medicare?

Well, of course, the tax payer will be paying for it in increased taxes. Or patients will be paying for it in rationed care. Maybe a combination of the two. How is this an improvement?

Call your representatives and let them know that this is unacceptable!
